Resumen
HUIDOBRO ORTEGA, Alberto. Differences between Mexican Commercial and Development Banks in Firm's Bank Financing. Gest. polít. pública [online]. 2012, vol.21, n.2, pp.515-564. ISSN 1405-1079.
Based on hard data, this paper studies some of the features of bank lending to firms in Mexico which are of interest to economic theory and looks for evidence of statistically significant differences between the loans provided by commercial and development banks. The analysis is based on a comparison of characteristics of the loans (the existence of collateral, loan purpose, etc.) as well as those of the borrowers (if they are firms or persons, their size, their economic activity, etc.). It is found that the loans granted by mexican development banks are not always similar to those granted by private banks. However, differences do not necessarily imply that development banks mitigate the market imperfections from which credit exclusion emerges.
