Resumen
CHAMIZO, José Antonio. Apuntes sobre la historia de la química en América Latina. Rev. Soc. Quím. Méx [online]. 2004, vol.48, n.2, pp.165-171. ISSN 0583-7693.
The history of what Latin America is at present days responds, in some way, to its geographical situation, its ecological variety, and its hability for interchanging products with other countries. Three historic stages are considered: Prehispanic (up to begining of XVI century), where the products are pondered over. Colonial (XVI-XVIII centuries), where processes predominate. And Independent (XIX century to present days), where institutions are established. Today Latin America produces around 2% of the chemical research.
