Abstract
PEREZ, Herminia I.; LUNA, Héctor; MANJARREZ, Norberto and SOLIS, Aida. Resolución microbiológica de 1-fenil-1-propanol y de 1-(4-toluil)-1-etanol con Nocardia corallina B-276. Rev. Soc. Quím. Méx [online]. 2001, vol.45, n.2, pp.43-46. ISSN 0583-7693.
A microbial resolution of chiral secondary alcohols with whole cells of Nocardia corallina B-276 was studied. Racemic alkylaryl carbinols were resolved into the corresponding (R)-compounds in good yields with > 99% enantiomeric excess. This enantioselective oxidation gives ketones in 38-42 % yields and they could be recycled to the bioseparation process. This is a new application of this microorganism in organic chemistry.
