VELARDE-PINEDA, Ana Alicia; NUBERT-CASTILLO, Víctor Hugo y CARRILLO-ESPER, Raúl. Inhaled sedation, use of simulation for your medical learning in anesthesiology. Rev. mex. anestesiol. [online]. 2025, vol.48, n.3, pp.184-187. Epub 25-Ago-2025. ISSN 0484-7903. https://doi.org/10.35366/120426.
Sedation and analgesia are two pillars of management for patients admitted to the operating room, as well as for critically ill patients arriving from the Intensive Care Unit, that will be subject of a procedure. 24-hours inhaled sedation devices in the ICU are a novel sedation strategy that allows rapid onset of action, dose-response titration, and rapid recovery time. Therefore, since these critically ill patients are frequently transferred to the operating room for surgery, it is important for anesthesiologists to be familiar with the indications, contraindications, assembly, and operation of these special inhaled sedation devices, such as the Sedaconda ACD. To achieve this, learning strategies such as medical simulation workshops can be implemented to allow anesthesiologists to review these important points and implement them, enabling them to solve clinical problems encountered in real-life scenarios.
