These days -now that the Latin American military dictatorships have been superseded and following several years of trade openings and the formalization of a number of regional agreements -we still ask ourselves: is it possible for the Latin American countries to develop? The present study aims at analyzing the relationship between high finance and the South American geopolitical project, as an instrument of economic and financial integration in a regional bloc. We assume that economic integration is possible, although this does not necessarily imply equitable benefits for all the countries in the region, nor does it mean that all Latin American countries are interested in participating. But it has not been detained by any absence of unity. We want to know and explore how a geopolitical integration project occurs -even if only some countries take part.
