IBARRA-GONZALEZ, Jesús Omar et al. Rhino-orbital cerebral mucormycosis: case report and its approach at Hospital Central Militar of Mexico. Rev. sanid. mil. [online]. 2024, vol.78, n.2, e01. Epub 20-Sep-2024. ISSN 0301-696X. https://doi.org/10.56443/j05spw50.
Mucormycosis is a disease with a high percentage of mortality. This opportunistic disease is caused by pathogens of the Zygomicota family of the order Mucorales, which affect considerably, mainly immunocompromised patients. We present the case of a patient approached at the Hospital Central Militar de México, diagnosed with rhino-orbito-cerebral mucormycosis, with histopathological report of non-septated hyaline hyphae of 90 º, referring to the aforementioned diagnosis. A multidisciplinary approach to the pathology was carried out with diagnosis, timely medical and surgical treatment, achieving a favorable evolution and prognosis in a condition whose outcome is usually fatal.
