GALLARDO-CABELLO, Manuel; CABRAL-SOLIS, Esther; ESPINO-BARR, Elaine  and  IBANEZ-AGUIRRE, Ana Laura. Growth analysis of white mullet Mugil curema (Valenciennes, 1836) (Pisces: Mugilidae) in the Cuyutlán Lagoon, Colima, México. Hidrobiológica [online]. 2005, vol.15, n.3, pp.321-325. ISSN 0188-8897.

The parameters from von Bertalanffy's growth equation were estimated for Mugil curema located in Cuyutlan coastal lagoon in Colima, Mexico. Growth parameters were L= 364.7 mm, W = 456.61 g, k = 0.219, to = -1.557, (A 0.95) = 15 years. Some important differences among growth rates of this species from other areas were observed. Significant differences in the growth rate between sexes were found: females: L = 365.8 mm, k = 0.221, to = -0.505; A0.95 = 14 years; males: L = 322.0 mm, k = 0.251, to = -0.441, A0.95 = 12 years.

Keywords : Mugil curema; von Bertalanffy's equation; growth; longevity.
