Resumen

RINCON MORERA, Andrés. The San Fernando Massacre: Moral Performatization of Violence. Perf. latinoam. [online]. 2025, vol.33, n.65, pp.263-290.  Epub 27-Mayo-2025. ISSN 0188-7653.  https://doi.org/10.18504/pl3365-011-2025.

Based on the main postulates of the civil sphere theory and cultural pragmatics, a model of analysis is proposed to understand the way in which the San Fernando massacre has come to be configured as a socially significant event in Mexico. Empirically, it addresses the performative process through which it was positioned in public opinion, analyzing the way in which, through the excessive deployment of force, the events categorized as violence are symbolically configured as transgressive and problematizing manifestations of those moral constructs considered central to a social nucleus. Analytically, a comprehensive framework is offered to identify the process through which this type of social manifestations are crystallized as public problems of a moral nature, condensing multiple intertwined accusatory imputations anchored in civil and non-civil codes, becoming labeled as shocking, traumatic and/or dramatic events.
