Abstract

Mexican student's outcomes in PISA-2003 are briefly described; some advantages of Mexico's participating in that program are pointed out; and information to answer the following questions is provided: Are the socio-economic conditions of Mexican students the only factor responsible for the mentioned outcomes?; Are those outcomes proportional to Mexico's macroeconomic indicators?; and Is absolutely true that the deficient quality of this country's education was caused by the growth of enrolments in secondary schools?
