Resumen
VAZQUEZ RAGAZZO, Esther; TEJERA GAONA, Héctor y BAUTISTA GOMEZ, Erika. “Time of women”: Between discourse and practice beyond gender parity. Alteridades [online]. 2025, vol.35, n.70, pp.11-24. Epub 24-Oct-2025. ISSN 2448-850X. https://doi.org/10.24275/oxld5173.
The article investigates the electoral campaigns of women in Mexico City during 2024, exploring differences in their political agendas, discursive strategies, and their reception by the electorate. It also examines how political discourses and practices are articulated around gender and what impact they have on women’s representation and participation in politics. An ethnographic and comparative approach is used, analyzing campaign speeches in different mayoralties through word clouds, field observation, and citizen testimonies. The elections of 2021 and 2024 are contrasted in order to evaluate changes in discursive strategies and electoral mobilization. Despite the greater presence of women, the campaigns reproduced traditional hierarchies limiting women’s participation in political spaces.
