GARCIDUENAS-HUERTA, Lenny. Violentómetro Arhikata. An experience in design anthropology in Purépecha communities in Michoacán. Alteridades [online]. 2025, vol.35, n.69, pp.51-64.  Epub 25-Ago-2025. ISSN 2448-850X.  https://doi.org/10.24275/jpke3006.

This article aims to reflect on the relationship between design and anthropology, as well as the contributions that their articulation can offer as a field of research and practice to foster spaces for the recognition, inclusion, and reconfiguration of indigenous identities and rights. It presents a practical experience in the field of visual communication design that examines the ethical dilemmas, challenges, and processes involved in academic research with these communities. Within the context of struggles for self-governance and through dialogue with Purépecha women in Michoacán, the article analyzes the contributions of co-design from an intercultural, militant, and gender-based perspective. It offers an epistemic reflection on the potential of conducting ethnography from a decolonial approach through the de velopment of the Violentómetro Arhikata, a project born from collaborative design. The article highlights both the potential and the limitations of this tool in making violence against women visible and in contributing to its prevention -an issue identified by the participants themselves as a priority.

Palavras-chave : collaborative methodologies; codesign; interculturality; ethnography; indigenous self-governance; Purépecha women; gender-based violence.
