The present article deals with the transnationalism process of Colombian’s popular music. From its particular local origin through regional and national references in Colombia up to Mexico and U.S.A. within local spaces where cumbia expands and vallenato remains relegated to a single locality but with singular force. Similarly, along with the displacement of this cultural product, this article examines the deep relation that music has to the generation of identities and subjectivities. It also attempts to understand the way in which music is tiled as well as overlapped with identities-subjectivities.
