DAMIAN HUATO, Miguel Ángel et al. Agricultural technology and territory: the case of the maize producers of Tlaxcala, Mexico. Invest. Geog [online]. 2007, n.63, pp.35-55. ISSN 2448-7279.
This research evaluated the suitable use of technology generated by the National Institution of Forest Agricultural and Cattle Investigation. The method used was "general recommentation" for maize in Tlaxcala state in 2002. In the research 1 884 surveys were applied about the use of statistical sampling, with a 95% trustworthiness ans an accur-ancy of 20 kilograms at considering the yield of maize. The results indicate that the appropriation of technology by the producers is low and differentiated, and there is a direct relation between appropriation of technology and yield, which is reversed in the Districs of Rural Development. It was found out that these results are given due to the differentiated access the producers have to the productive resources, the agrological and socio-economic characteristics of the districts, the economic and demographic structure of the state and the strategy of investigation used by INIFAP to generate and to transfer technology. Finally it was detected that the recommended technological package does not include different production techniques originated in the spatial practices and places of farmer representation.
