GUTIERREZ R., Margarita Eugenia; BOCCO V., Gerardo y CASTILLO B., Silvia. Contaminación por cromo en el norte de la Ciudad de México, un enfoque interdisciplinario. Invest. Geog [online]. 1986, n.16, pp.77-125. ISSN 2448-7279.
Industrial residues, containing high concentrations of soluble chromium salts, have been accumulated in Tultitlan, Mexico. Consequently, chromium has been dispersed in the surroundings, mainly in the subsoil by percolation, and to a lesser extent it has also contaminated the atmosphere and soils. This paper presents some analytical results about the available amounts of chromium in groundwater and soils, together with a description of the circumstances which gave rise to this problem, a characterization of the environment, a first estimate of the extent of the problem, and proposals for solutions.
