Companies are constantly looking for learning strategies to develop the skills of their human capital and acquire or modify knowledge, skills, attitudes and other elements. The learning process, however, is influenced by various factors such as age of the staff.
The aim of this research is to statistically confirm the existence of a relationship between the appreciation of age of the human capital at the Coahuila steel complex as a factor that influences some elements of the competencies (theoretical knowledge, skills, attitudes and values) for performing their job responsibilities (production and/or marketing of goods and services). A sample of 371 people from the Coahuila steel complex were interviewed individually and the data analyzed through statistical tests of contingency tables, chi-square and Spearman correlation to prove the hypothesis. Results showed that no significant relationship exists between age and theoretical knowledge, skills, attitudes and values of the human capital at the Coahuila steel complex for performing their job responsibilities.
