Abstract
MUINELO-GALLO, Leonel. Modelo estructural de función de producción: Un estudio empírico de la innovación en el sector manufacturero español. Econ: teor. práct [online]. 2012, n.36, pp.43-82. ISSN 2448-7481.
This paper analyses the relationship among productivity, innovation and research at firm level using an extension of the structural model of Crépon, Duguet and Mairesse (1998). The study is performed for Spanish firms of the manufacturing sector, using information from the Encuesta sobre innovación tecnológica en las empresas 2000 and 2004. The empirical results suggest that public funds, the size of the firms and the participation in international markets play an important role in the decisions to realize internal research activities. In addition, it is more probable that the firms that make a major effort in research, will be more innovative of products and/or of processes. Finally, the estimations also emphasize that increases in productivity are positively correlated with the introduction of new products and/or processes and with the intensity of the physical capital.
