This article addresses the debate over whether the historical-literary phenomenon known as Contemporáneos constitutes a participant in the avant-garde movement. It also describes and analyzes a work entitled Examen de pausas by Gilberto Owen, who belonged to this generation of writers. Its objective is to examine to what extent this work presents elements of the avant-garde, drawing on the theoretical notions of text and discourse.
