The poetry collections Nostalgia de la muerte (1938) by Xavier Villaurrutia and Nuevo amor y otras poesías (1984) by Salvador Novo represent a significant example of the aesthetic and political project developed by both authors through the literary group Los Contemporáneos. This study aims to demonstrate the transgressive nature of their poetic proposals by exploring the discursive strategies they employed to represent homoerotic subjectivities. Each poetic project is compared, taking into account their engagement with the concept of silence, as both works seek to challenge post-revolutionary discourse in the Mexican context of the first half of the 20th century.
