Often mentioned but practically unfindable, Noticia chronologica by Carlos de Sigüenza y Góngora has truly become a debt rather than a mystery, given its literary minor character and its centrality in the life and works of the Mexican writer. After the publication of a critical edition comparing the two only known versions (one manuscript, another printed), which tried to increase its circulation, the present essay aims to read carefully its historical and material aspects, especially since the first edition present in Sigüenza’s almanac from 1681 appeared along with Theatro de virtudes políticas (1680). It also aims to examine the Noticia’s literary articulations, through which Sigüenza’s poetic of thought shows itself to us as a geopolitical project, a project whose time is yet incomplete and adjacent.
