The author rescues the work Natural y figura or El ranchero de Irapuato, by José Tomás de Cuéllar, which comes from a batch of materials from the archive of Armando de Maria y Campos (1897-1967) that was purchased by the Center for Literary Studies of the UNAM following his death. The source of our rescue consists of a typewritten copy of 40 numbered pages (plus the cover), whose very coarse and worn type indicates that it was written on a typewriter from the first half of the last century. The cover reads verbatim: “The ranchero of Irapuato/ Comedy of customs. Written in magnificent verses in / two acts by the Mexican poet / Don José T. de Cuéllar /. -1868-.” It includes the text indicating that the metric restoration was carried out by José Quiñones Melgoza and the edition corresponds to Felipe Reyes Palacios.
