Abstract

CORONA BERKIN, Sarah. Books for wixáritari: A history of integration, exclusion and emancipation. Comun. soc [online]. 2013, n.19, pp.11-39. ISSN 0188-252X.

The author of this article discusses the books published for Wixáritari. She analyzes the specificity of these texts from a survey of books built for this purpose. In a historical context of editorial policy for indigenous people in Mexico, the publishers, dates, gender and language of the books, show the books' objective to integrate the indigenous people to the national state whilethey are excluded from the editorial decisions. Some books that meet dialogic and emancipatory purposes are mentioned.
