This article conducts a systematic literature review aimed at diagnosing and problematizing the degree to which a gender perspective is incorporated into studies on human rights organizations. Through a mapping and critical analysis of reports from national and international organizations, as well as academic works, it identifies the extent to which the situation of women human rights defenders is differentially visible, both in their external work and in internal organizational dynamics. The analysis reveals existing gaps and the need to overcome the neutral perspective that has characterized research on these topics, examining how gender permeates and influences the struggle for rights. To address these limitations, the article concludes by proposing a gender-focused research agenda, centered on organizational actions in contexts of violence and specific measures to guarantee the work of women human rights defenders.
