Abstract
DIAZ GONZALEZ MENDEZ, Carlos Alberto. The literature on child homelessness in Latin America. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2022, vol.84, n.3, pp.567-595. Epub Aug 01, 2022. ISSN 2594-0651. https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2022.3.60318.
The literature on child homelessness in Latin America exhibits seven axes of problematization that outline the main contributions, limitations and pending agendas in the region. Among the limitations, two stand out: the oversized role attributed to families and the absence of a political component to explain the process of becoming a homelessness child. Regarding the achievements, the most notable one is importance of agency as an analytical instrument. The great unfinished task remains incorporating in greater depth the role of gender, the power relations that it entails and how it incorporates itself in public and private spaces.
