Abstract
CRUZ PINEIRO, Rodolfo; VARGAS VALLE, Eunice D.; HERNANDEZ ROBLES, Ana Karina and RODRIGUEZ CHAVEZ, Óscar. Adolescents who study and work: socio demographic and contextual factors. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2017, vol.79, n.3, pp.571-604. ISSN 2594-0651.
Studying and working during high school is a phenomenon that has been scarcely studied in Mexico. This article provides recent empirical evidence about the association of this simultaneous practice with a set of individual and familial factors, as well as with indicators of the structure of opportunities at the regional and local levels. The results reveal that combining these activities is directly associated with the migratory background of adolescents, lower social and human capitals at home, informal labor within households and wider school and labor supplies in the municipalities of residence.
