Abstract

BONIOLO, Paula. The Thread of Corruption: a Study of the Middle and Working Classes in Buenos Aires. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2010, vol.72, n.3, pp.365-391. ISSN 2594-0651.

Corruption has been a widely debated social problem. Most academic bibliography discusses its effects on the functioning of democracy and the economy. Conversely, this study uses a micro-social perspective to analyze the way corruption operates in the experience of the middle and working classes in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires. A qualitative methodology was used to achieve the objectives. A thematic analysis of the interviews allowed for the construction of a code system to explain ideas and beliefs underlying corrupt practices.

Keywords : corruption; middle class; working class; qualitative methodology.
