ENCISO VARGAS, Julián Andrés; MIRANDA MUNOZ, Cristian David y RAMIREZ SANABRIA, Alfonso Enrique. Catalytic isomerization by catalyst Evonik®: A versatile example to examine concepts in heterogeneous catalysis. Educ. quím [online]. 2023, vol.34, n.3, pp.4-15. Epub 20-Dic-2023. ISSN 0187-893X. https://doi.org/10.22201/fq.18708404e.2023.3.84459.
The catalytic isomerization of allyl alcohol is presented as a simple reaction that can be used as an example in teaching the basic concepts of heterogeneous catalysis, including how to relate the solid physicochemical characterization, with the catalytic properties: activity, selectivity and stability. Likewise, it is shown how this reaction can be used to show some of the principles of green chemistry, related to the design of less dangerous synthetic routes and allows to address the concept of atomic economy.
