Abstract

LOZANO LUCIA, Oscar Raúl  and  SANCHEZ LOPEZ DE ANDUJAR, Alicia. Design, application and result of a gamification strategy as a closing activity in chemistry classes. Educ. quím [online]. 2021, vol.32, n.4, pp.59-73.  Epub Feb 28, 2022. ISSN 0187-893X.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fq.18708404e.2021.5.78989.

This work is based on the assumption of students’ lack of interest in science, largely triggered by the teaching methodologies used regularly. Its deeps into the concept of gamification and especially in the application of educational Escape Room-type activities. A gamification activity of this type is designed. In it, concepts that belong to the content block of “the matter” of the Physics and Chemistry curriculum of 4th ESO in Spain (15-16 years) are worked, with a final evaluation of the game results by the students. This activity deals with concepts that students have previously studied, therefore, it can be considered as a closing activity or as an evaluation of the knowledge acquired. The activity also introduces the vision of a contextualized science regarding history and current scientific issues (STSE).

Keywords : Gamification; Escape Room; STSE relationships.
