Chemistry is a complex and exciting science, but its teaching traditionally translates into theoretical and rote learning, especially in places with few resources. The aim of this study is to evaluate the influence of the Portable Laboratory (PL) on the learning of chemistry in basic education students in an educational institution in Huancayo, located in the central Andes of Peru. A quasi-experimental design was applied to two classrooms (one experimental and one control), pre and post-test were applied to each student by group. The results showed that the introduction of PL in the teaching process improved the academic performance of the experimental group (tc=-5.805, p-value < 0.001).
