The purpose of this article is to present a proposal for a didactic sequence on the theme aluminum in order to promote a teaching-learning that values the criticality, autonomy and emancipation of individuals and groups. We use as theoretical foundation the categories of Historical-Critical Pedagogy (HCP), expressed in its didactic of the five moments: Initial Social Practice, Problematization, Instrumentalization, Catharsis, Final Social Practice. In order to subsidize the development of the didactic sequence, we present a discussion of the Physical-Chemical properties of aluminum, a historical cut about its obtainment, as well as its socioeconomic potential articulated to social and environmental problems we point out the possible contributions of the proposal of this sequence for the formation of critical, autonomous subjects and agents of actions that aim the transformation of reality in search of justice and social equality. In particular, we emphasize the possibility of this didactic sequence to overcome an appropriation and objectivation for itself alienated on the subject addressed
