A natural semantic network was applied to teachers of the Escuela Nacional Preparatoria (ENP; National High School) during two school terms 2006-2007 and 2007-2008.The aim was to find, from the point of view of the teachers, which are the minimum essential contents for the basic Chemistry course which is compulsory for second year students at the ENP. It was found that 56% of the total ENP chemistry teachers answered the natural semantic network and they agreed (above the 50%) mainly on eleven topics that can be considered as the minimum essential contents of the course.
