GARRITZ, Andoni. Argumentation in a new course: Science and Society. Educ. quím [online]. 2009, vol.20, n.2, pp.98-101. ISSN 0187-893X.
We are approaching to the celebration of our 20th anniversary. This time the central topic of the anniversary section is "The argumentation in the chemistry classroom", so we will introduce this topic by telling some of our own experiences in a new course denominated "Science and society". An essential element of learning and teaching in the 21st Century is a dialogic mode of interaction, which engages students in deliberative interaction about the nature of science and to construct a deeper and more meaningful understanding of it. This course has as objective that students understand the social and human dimension of scientific and technological activities, its scope and possible consequences. We offered a questionnaire with open and close questions to more than 60 students of the course and we received a surprising and favorable answer of about 80% of them.
