CALDERON VILLARREAL, Cuauhtémoc e MARTINEZ MORALES, Gerardo. La ley de Verdoom y la industria manufacturera regional en México en la era del TLCAN. Frontera norte [online]. 2005, vol.17, n.34, pp.103-137. ISSN 2594-0260.
The impact of economic opening and liberalization on Mexico's regional manufacturing industry after the signing of NAFTA is analyzed in this article from the perspective of Verdoom's Law. The analysis is divided into three periods: 1960-1980 (import substitution), 1985-1993 (trade liberalization after joining the GATT), and 1993-1998 (total opening to foreign direct investment-the NAFTA era). Likewise, an alternative specification is given for Verdoom's Law, conditionally called Verdoom's Law, whereby productivity growth depends not only on the rate of growth of the product but also on other factors involved in its evolution.
