LUGO ESPINOSA, Oziel; VILLAVICENCIO PEREZ, Gerardo Alexis e DIAZ LUNA, Samantha Aurora. Technological package for monitoring greenhouse environment using open hardware and software. Terra Latinoam [online]. 2014, vol.32, n.1, pp.77-84. ISSN 2395-8030.
Monitoring greenhouse environments in Mexico has high investment costs and, for its adoption, producers often choose to omit this technological infrastructure and, thus, do not benefit from the advantages of climate monitoring and control, which affect production quantity and quality. This paper presents the development of a package of low-cost technology for monitoring greenhouse environment. The package is based on the use of free software and hardware and considers the construction and adaptation of sensors for measuring meteorological variables inside and outside a greenhouse, the construction and adaptation of electronic interfaces to capture sensors readings and the development of software for interpreting data. Java and Arduino were used as free software and hardware platforms, respectively. Sensors were compared against commercial sensors developed in the same climatic conditions, and the same data were obtained. However, there was a notable difference in the action time of the sensor developed due to the weight increased by materials used in its construction.
