SANCHEZ-PERDOMO, Rubén; HERRERA-VALLEJERA, Darlenis; GORBEA-PORTAL, Salvador e CARRILLO-CALVET, Humberto. International impact metric of Mathematics: determining leadership through scientific impact. Investig. bibl [online]. 2022, vol.36, n.91, pp.65-83. Epub 15-Nov-2022. ISSN 2448-8321. https://doi.org/10.22201/iibi.24488321xe.2022.91.58534.
The purpose of this study was to determine the scientific impact profiles of the most outstanding countries, institutions and authors in the field of Mathematics at international level. Data was collected from Essential Science Indicators tool, and LabSOM software was used to determine bibliometric profile of countries, institutions and leading authors based on a multiparametric analysis. The results show that the leaders of each bibliometric indicator do not coincide with any of the levels of aggregation analysed and demonstrate that these indicators should not be applied uniformly in all fields to measure the scientific development of disciplines, because each discipline shows different growth rates. Multiparametric evaluation allows the simultaneous determination of several bibliometric indicators. This method constitutes a novel tool for computational multiparametric analysis; and it also allows the application of bibliometric data mining to the decision making at the highest level of the organization. The newness of the study consists not only in its international scope and the timeliness of its data but also in the use of new indicators of scientific impact in Mathematics.
