ALVAREZ-ROBLES, Teresita; OROZCO OSUNA, Yadira Alejandra e ALVAREZ RODRIGUEZ, Francisco Javier. UX Evaluation on digital libraries-oriented websites with blind people. Investig. bibl [online]. 2021, vol.35, n.89, eib0895845109. Epub 22-Mar-2022. ISSN 2448-8321. https://doi.org/10.22201/iibi.24488321xe.2021.89.58451.
The aim of this work is to evaluate and improve the discapacity of the blind user when making use of websites focused on the digital libraries area. To achieve this objective, tests with user experience evaluation methods were carried out. The tests were done on two public libraries websites in the city of Guadalajara, Mexico, which at first glance don’t consider sufficient accessibility and usability guidelines to be used by blind people. The instruments used for the tests were: interviews, heuristic evaluation and the thinking aloud method modified for blind users (Álvarez-Robles, 2019).
Based on the results obtained in the said tests, it was possible to note that users had difficulties in using the Web catalog. The main problems were identified and a design guide proposal was made for the development of Web sites focused on digital libraries. As a conclusion, the testing importance and the inclusion of blind people became clear from the early stages of the evaluation and thus for being able to avoid future problems or errors on the website.
