This analysis is carried out in order to assess the degree to which the curricula of Librarian and Library and Information Science degree programs have responded to the recommendations presented in diverse MERCOSUR sponsored meetings of Library Science and Information directors and teachers. Using multidimensional statistical techniques, comparative analyses of the respective plans of study of seven Argentine universities were carried out. The study reveals that these curricula diverge considerably from the chief recommendations aired in MERCOSUR conferences in terms of recommended hours and relative weights of subject areas.
