A corporative taxonomy is defined as a type of controlled vocabulary that reflects the context, the audience and the contents of a given organization, and which allows the representation of all types of informational items for developing different functions in corporative sites: content organization, searching navigation, competitive intelligence, etc. A methodology for the design of taxonomies is set out in the context of project management, with special attention paid to the stages that necessarily must be carried out: strategic planning, construction of taxonomy, categorization of informational objects, application and presentation of the taxonomy, and the cycle of evaluation and continuous improvement. The present market of computer solutions for these processes is presented, including features and examples of different types of existing applications.
