ALIANO, Nicolás. Living in Social Housing. Latin American Theoretical Perspectives, Research Itineraries, and Emerging Agendas for Its Study. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2024, vol.39, n.110, pp.35-65. Epub 14-Feb-2025. ISSN 2007-8358.
Associated with the renewal of research agendas, the study of social housing and its inhabitants has begun to take on new impetus in Latin America. Diverse factors such as the rise in theoretical approaches that return agency to certain things or the recent pandemic’s impact on domestic housing, contributed to giving this renewal traction. This article proposes a review of qualitative research about social housing in three national contexts (Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina), explaining a profound look into the production and use of that space. As a result, the author puts forward a balance sheet of the topics dealt with and traces ways forward for an emerging agenda around the study of social housing.
