This essay focuses on making the process of urbanization-metropolitanization of the Puebla-Tlaxcaltec Valley intelligible. It does this both on a macro-regional level and in the sphere of the daily lives of those living there. Thus, the author deals with the general process of the valley’s urbanization, the theoretical crosscutting issues that, from the standpoint of Marxist political economy and the sociology of social reproduction, turn this into an object of knowledge, and the methodological configurations appropriate for doing so.
