Abstract
SALINAS LARA, Daniel Eugenio. The Ideology of the Contemporary LGBTQ+ Movement from the Point of View of a Discourse Analysis of the Human Rights Campaign Web Page. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2023, vol.38, n.108, pp.141-170. Epub Apr 12, 2024. ISSN 2007-8358.
The contemporary LGBTQ+ movement in the West is currently facing resistance and controversy for having adopted an ideology influenced by queer theory and transhumanism that deconstructs the category of sex and gender and prioritizes the concept of gender identity over that of sex in areas such as the law, medicine, sports, and culture. Using a discourse analysis of the Internet page of the influential U.S. organization Human Rights Campaign, this article seeks to understand this ideology, analyzing mainly the sections of the glossary of terms about sexuality and gender, the use of pronouns, and the banners of sexual identities and gender. The aim is to clarify the bases for the ideology and its use of language to be able to understand the roots of the current cultural battle.
