Abstract

FERNANDEZ, Mariana Cecilia. Police Violence and Youth. A Theoretical Review. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2021, vol.36, n.103, pp.119-156.  Epub Dec 06, 2021. ISSN 2007-8358.

This article explores theoretically the phenomenon of police violence toward youth in order to reflect on young people’s deaths in circumstances related to this in Argentina today. Considering the scant amount of research on this issue and that what there is centers on analyzing the very conflictive relationship between youth and the police, this article takes a systematic look at the studies of these issues, underlining the mass media’s lack of information in the legitimation of police violence.

Keywords : police; youth; violence; communications media; society.
