This article analyzes the identity configuration of Senegalese migrants residing in the city of Buenos Aires, based on their belonging to brotherhoods, understood as religious base communities that have a certain influence in many aspects of their daily lives. Using in-depth interviews and writings about Islam and its expansion in Senegal, but above all the creation and structuring of their communities based on brotherhoods, the author reflects on their effect in the (re)configuration of their community identity in their Argentinean settlements and the processes of re-signification involved.
