Resumen
BARBETA VINAS, Marc. Symbols Are Food for Thought: Outline for a Psycho-Sociological Theory of Symbolism. Cognitive-affective Perspective, Discourse, and Interpretation. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2015, vol.30, n.85, pp.163-196. ISSN 2007-8358.
Based on a critical review of the main perspectives on symbolism developed in the social sciences, this article proposes a psycho-sociological theory of symbolic phenomena. This approach focuses on symbolism as a space of synthesis of different planes and levels of social and personal reality and provides an explanation of the origin of the symbolization process, often omitted by the main currents. In addition, it contributes a theoretical foundation for a way of putting forward sociological discourse analysis, with interest in the meaning of social phenomena as the horizon.
