In this article, we reflect on the different uses of the category gender, favoring its understanding as a deployment of power: that is, underlining its operationality as a producer and regulator of social and subjective life, in interaction with other deployments or systems. Based on Foucault's tools for analyzing power relations, and using Judith Butler's contributions, we analyze theoretical and analytical aspects of this gender operationality as a specific deployment of power: from the macro-social operationality to the psicological, performative and identity processes of normalization of subjects' identity.
