Abstract

GIROLA, Lidia. Tiempo, tradición y modernidad: la necesaria re-semantización de los conceptos. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2005, vol.20, n.58, pp.13-52. ISSN 2007-8358.

This article attempts to establish the basis for the study of the relationship between time and the formation and use of ideas and concepts that make up both sociology’s social imaginaries and theoretical framework. It maintains that just as the notion of time is a social construct, to study the sociological meanings of time, it is necessary to consider social relations of all kinds and the terms that define them in their temporality. It discusses the notions of tradition and modernity and why it is necessary to assign them new meanings.

Keywords : Time; temporality; tradition; traditions; traditionalism; modernity; modernization.
