In November 2017, the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association Hypertension published new guidelines for the prevention, detection, evaluation, and management of high blood pressure in adults, with changes in the recommendations of the classification and therapeutic approach. This manuscript analyzes their key recommendations and some author’s comments about the new guidelines.
