Mexico’s audiovisual industry is going through a boom period, with an increase in production and internationalization, driven by major platforms. In this context, new opportunities are emerging for women, but there are still barriers that prevent them from accessing positions of responsibility and decision-making. This study assesses the current situation of female professionals in the audiovisual sector in this country. Based on the limited official data available, we employed the focus group technique to gather the experiences of twelve women from various professions involved in audiovisual work. They denounced their typecasting into certain positions and genres and called for more opportunities and resources. They consider that the quota policy and the operational guidelines of the players committed to parity have helped to promote their careers. They agree that progress has been made recently but say that much remains to be done.

Palabras llave : Mexico; audiovisual sector; women; platforms; Netflix.
