Resumen

HERRERO, Fabián. “So Many Things Have Happened, my Friend Juancito”. “Rosista” Imagery in the Buenos Aires Satirical Press in the post-Caseros Era. Secuencia [online]. 2026, n.124, e2499.  Epub 09-Feb-2026. ISSN 2395-8464.  https://doi.org/10.18234/secuencia.v0i124.2499.

In Buenos Aires, the post-Caseros years have seen a marked increase in the press compared to the previous period, while simultaneously highlighting the absence of periodicals defending the fallen government of Juan Manuel de Rosas. Within this framework, I analyze Rosas’s imagery in the satirical journalistic space. The idea is to identify only some of the most salient images, seeking to understand how they operate in politics. It is also interesting to examine bibliographically how the imagery of the “other” political enemy is presented during the Rosas era and even in the decades preceding it, to determine whether, in previous periods, the materials comprising some or many of these were already widely available throughout the River Plate region. Finally, it is important to determine, in political terms, how satirical journalistic space can be defined. The main, though not exclusive, source is the various periodicals with a burlesque tone.

Palabras llave : rosismo; politics; Caseros; Buenos Aires.
