SANDOVAL MENESES, Lizette y GARCIA FIGUEROA, Gabriela. Necropolitics in Scenarios of Systemic Sexual Feminicide in Sonora, 2015-2024. Secuencia [online]. 2026, n.124, e2497. Epub 09-Feb-2026. ISSN 2395-8464. https://doi.org/10.18234/secuencia.v0i124.2497.
This article aims to examine the scenarios of systemic sexual femicide in Sonora, as well as the profile of the victims. It highlights the role of organized crime, impunity, and institutional violence in the lack of prevention and attention to this crime. To this end, it uses the author’s own database recording the cases identified from 2015 to 2024. The findings point to a gender necro-politics in the state, reflected in the apparent collusion of police and judicial bodies with illegal power structures and groups. This translates into the carelessness and negligence with which the cases of missing women and victims of femicide are (mis)handled, as well as their invisibility. This phenomenon combines patterns of gender, abuse, and inequality, normalizing violence in areas of social exclusion and consolidating the systematic nature of sexual femicide.
