This article analyzes the development of sports infrastructure in the township of Maipú between 1965 and 1973, within a context of urban modernization based on the characteristics of a peripheral neighborhood of Santiago. In this regard, infrastructure investment involved various stakeholders, such as the municipality, housing corporations, and sports clubs. Research suggests that modernization led to the inclusion of marginalized groups and strengthened an amateur football league while promoting the identification of residents with their community. The methodology involved the use of municipal records, local press, and sports magazines circulating during the study period.
